REGEN's 3rd Consortium Meeting

On 7–8 October, we joined partners in Milan for the third General Consortium Meeting of REGEN, marking the halfway point of this Horizon Europe project.

The meeting also provided a chance to visit the Milan demo site in the Giambellino–Lorenteggio neighbourhood, a historic working-class area now undergoing a major urban transformation. Supported by Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the neighbourhood is seeing the demolition and reconstruction of five housing blocks to create greener, more inclusive urban spaces. This regeneration includes the development of social and cultural areas, such as the new Lorenteggio Library, and welcomes EU-funded R&I pilots, like CLEVER Cities (with the Parco Alan Kurti and now REGEN.

As the four REGEN demo sites advance with their neighbourhood interventions, the project is now entering its replication phase. iUE is leading the development of Replication Scenarios to apply REGEN’s Assessment Framework for Urban Regeneration (AFUR), developed by NOBATEK, to eight additional sites, whether planned, ongoing, or completed.

Call for Expressions of Interest

We are inviting urban regeneration projects across Europe to join REGEN as replication scenarios.

Projects may focus on one or more of the following domains:

» Built environment -improving building performance and infrastructure quality.

» Energy systems – reducing energy use and promoting sustainable sources.

» Mobility and transportenhancing accessibility and promoting sustainable mobility.

» Circular economyadvancing waste management and material circularity.

» Land managementfostering greener, healthier, and more vibrant public spaces.

To participate, projects should be able to provide information on their implemented or targeted measures, including data on buildings, energy, mobility, waste, and land use, as well as socio-economic impacts.

By joining, partners will contribute to assessing the long-term environmental, social, and economic impacts of regeneration projects and help shape the future of sustainable urban transformation in Europe.
