The Institute for Urban Excellence is a non-profit research organisation established in The Hague, the Netherlands. We are a think(and-do)-tank empowering individuals, organisations, and institutions to achieve better human settlements. The Institute’s core mission is to conduct research and promote knowledge transfer, offer advice and short-term consultancy services, as well as design and deliver capacity-building and educational programmes. The Institute is involved in several EU research projects and collaborates with a range of international partners.
Internship Description
We are seeking a Research Intern to be involved for 3 months in the day-to-day implementation of our research and innovation projects related to soil-inclusive planning. In this intern position, you will be involved in the delivery of multiple research outputs (support the development of a case-study portfolio), as well as innovation support tools (online guidance to support co-creation processes).
You will discover how transnational research projects are implemented and learn more about soil-inclusive planning and urban innovation management.
Main Tasks
- – Support the development of a case-study portfolio for soil-inclusive planning.
- – Contribute to the update of online tools supporting urban co-creation processes (related to soil-inclusive planning).
Requirements
- – You are nearing the completion of, or have recently finished, your bachelor’s or master’s degree, with an interest in urban studies or urban planning, urban innovation processes and sustainable urban development.
- – You have good IT literacy (with the Office Suite, with online tools such as Notion and Genially).
- – You can work independently and respond well to feedback.
- – You are curious and open-minded.
- – You have excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written.
- – We are looking for someone who can join us in June. Therefore, candidates based in the Netherlands will have priority (we accept candidates from all nationalities, but you must hold a valid EU citizenship or have a valid EU residence and Dutch work permit).
