City-to-City Learning for Climate Resilience: an online multilateral exchange

The Institute for Urban Excellence, together with the Prospex Institute, successfully hosted JUSTNature’s online Multilateral City Exchange on June 17, 2025. The event brought together city representatives, urban practitioners, and sustainability experts from across Europe in a collaborative effort to share experiences about the adoption of Nature-based Solutions.

The event was part of JUSTNature’s Twinning Cities programme within the project’s broader mission to foster inclusive, equitable, and climate-resilient cities across Europe. Moderated by iUE’s project manager Tannya Pico, the exchange focused on

– strenghtening cross-city ties and networks,

– facilitating open knowledge sharing, and

– catalysing new learnings to support urban climate action.

Throughout the workshop, participants showcased impactful practices under several core JUSTNature themes, including: Public–Private Partnerships, ICT and sensors post-project and co-governance. The exchange was enriched by a series of presentations from external guests (including representatives of the VARCITIES and UPSURGE projects) and stakeholders from various organisations involved in urban sustainability initiatives.

The exchange provided the perfect opportunity to not only highlight successful practices, but also for cities to identify shared challenges and explore replicable, scalable solutions together. At the Institute for Urban Excellence, we believe in the power of knowledge sharing, transfer and co-creation, and are committed to continue creating these activities for collaborative exchange.
